The Workshop continues a series of workshops started by the Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP MSU) in 1985 and conceived with the purpose of presenting topics of current interest and providing a stimulating environment for scientific discussion on new developments in theoretical and experimental high energy physics and physical programs for future colliders. Traditionally the list of workshop attendees includes a great number of active young scientists from Russia and other countries. The Workshop QFTHEP'2003 will take place on 4-11 September 2003 on a special Conference Boat (Russian, English) during the round sailing Samara-Saratov-Volgograd-Samara by the Volga river.

Scientific program

The Workshop will include plenary morning and three parallel afternoon sessions. The plenary sessions will consist of invited lectures (up to 45 min.). The afternoon sessions will include original talks (up to 20 min.).
The main topics to be covered are:

I. The present status of Standard Model, last (final) results from HERA and LEP2, and recent results from the Tevatron RUN2, Babar and Belle.

II. Physics at hadron (LHC, Tevatron) and lepton (TESLA, CLIC, JLC, NLC...) colliders:
  • phenomenology of the top quark and gauge bosons;
  • phenomenology of Higgs bosons in various SUSY and non-SUSY scenarios;
  • prospects to search for extra dimensions, non-commutative geometry and other exotics.
III. Physical models at TeV and higher energy scales:
  • SUSY extensions of the Standard Model;
  • mechanisms of spontaneous breaking of gauge symmetry, "Little Higgs" models;
  • composite models of quarks, leptons, gauge and Higgs bosons;
  • theories of particle interactions with extra dimensions;
  • quantum groups and other ideas from modern geometry and algebra.
IV. Monte-Carlo event generation and physics simulations for future colliders.

V. Intersections of particle and nuclear physics:
  • nuclear physics perspectives addressing quantum field theory; hypernuclear physics and related topics.
VI. Quantum and classical electrodynamics of exotic and nonlinear systems.

The working language at the Workshop will be English.

Contributions and Proceedings

Talks will be selected by the Organizing Committee on the basis of abstracts to be submitted before August 1, 2003.
The Workshop Proceedings will be published, a special circular with the instructions for authors will be sent out later on.

Participation and fees

The registration fee is 250 USD payable in cash upon arrival only. It includes Proceedings, welcome party, banquet, coffee-breaks and local transportation. A full-board accommodation at the Conference Boat will cost 300 USD for the whole trip (7 days) also payable in cash on the board.
The Organizing Committee will provide a partial financial support (participation or/and accommodation fee) for a limited number of participants from Russia and the former Soviet Union republics according to personal requests (application form). The deadline for applications is June 1, 2003.

Social program

The Organizing Committee is planning to arrange a sightseeing of several cities on the Volga banks, and especially a visit to the memorial complex in Volgograd (former Stalingrad).

Travel information

The embarkation to the Conference Boat will start on September 4 (late afternoon), the departure of the Boat from Samara is planned for September 5 (morning). Arrival of the Boat back to Samara will be on September 11 (afternoon).
The detailed information on how to get the Samara river port will be sent out later to the registered participants.
